The company is hiring a Weld Systems Controls Project Engineer to join its team.

Education Level

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Act as engineering liaison to manufacturing and field service departments
  • Archive all completed engineering software designs, engineering documents, and lessons learned
  • Attend project cross-function team meetings
  • Commission software on the equipment as required
  • Coordinate with Project Management regarding schedule, design concepts, and other status information on areas of concern
  • Define the overall project software architecture for the base contract
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans through validation and customer buy-off at Fori and the customer’s plant
  • Develop project templates and engineering documents
  • Document software requirements
  • Manage the control activities of an assigned project
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews of deliverables
  • Participate in the validation and buy-off of the software on the equipment
  • Present and support all customer software approvals
  • Represent all control activities with the customer for the project duration
  • Review customer software specifications
  • Validate all software before commissioning

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to take the Controls Engineering Lead on a project
  • Controls system application knowledge
  • Knowledge of spot and MIG welding control systems
  • Possible 50% travel requirement
  • Robot I/O interfacing. Basic operation knowledge of Fanuc, ABB, and Motoman
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Strong programming knowledge and experience using Rockwell PLC’s
  • US Passport and travel capability to Canada

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Required to sit/stand for long periods.
