Job Profile

The company is seeking a Welder who will weld structures that have been fabricated, assembled, or installed as parts of a ship, with the aim of delivering the very best product possible to our customers.

You will be working to engineering standards, striving for quality right the first time. Taking the ship from a bare steel design to the final constructed warship.

Educational Qualification

  • Trade papers, e.g., formal apprenticeship (ability to provide papers)
  • Deposit welds that pass both visual and NDE examinations

Work Experience

  • Flux core experience (FCAW)
  • Materials – the experience in welding carbon steel thickness 4mm and above, but specifically in the 4-10mm range

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in major construction/manufacturing environment
  • Safety certification i.e., SHE induction, COSHH awareness, working at height
  • Welding aluminum with the MIG process
  • Welding with automated equipment
  • Welding with MCAW consumables

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all the related standards associated with welding, including fume control
  • Main process – FCAW/MAG – using ceramic tiles
  • Self-verification on all welds
  • Welding butts and fillets to a high standard
  • Welding different materials (carbon and stainless steel and aluminium)
  • Welding using different welding processes i.e., Manual Metal Arc, Metal Inert Gas, Automatic and Semi-Automatic Machine Welding (Submerged – Arc & KAT), and Resistance Welding (Stud Welding)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Capable of all positional welding
  • A clear understanding of SHE risks awareness
  • Current knowledge and experience in welding and use of associated equipment
  • Should be comfortable working in confined spaces and or at height
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
