Job Profile
The company is looking for a Welder who will be responsible for welding pipe products (stainless steel or carbon steel) using various processes, setting up fixtures and welding equipment, and in-process weld quality inspection.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should be a CWB or TSSA certified
- MIG aluminum welding is an asset
- Qualified in FCAW (Flux Core Arc welding) process, (Carbon steel)
- Qualified in SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding) process (Carbon steel and Stainless Steel)
Work Experience
- Possess 2 to 5 years of experience in a pipe fabrication environment
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to company policies and safety procedures
- All welds to be performed according to drawings
- Ensure all welds are clean, ground, and inspected; repair welds if necessary before moving product to the next operation
- Ensure all welds are performed 1G position with the aid of fixture and rotating equipment
- Ensure all welds for carbon steel pipe are performed using the primary process Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) where possible. In some cases, where unable to use the primary process, a secondary process will be used: Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Ensure material is tagged with an in-process tag for ISO requirement
- Ensure that all inspection records and other record requirements are filled out neatly and correctly and returned to the supervisor at the end of the workday
- Ensure that the smoke and fume removal system is working and used effectively
- Ensure that the welder stamps are applied to every carbon steel fitting (for traceability purposes), application of other stamps may be required
- Ensure work is carried out in accordance with established company procedures
- Immediately report any unsafe equipment to the supervisor, and lock out equipment until repairs can be performed
- Maintain a neat and clean workplace; comply with any FEM and LEAN manufacturing principles
- Make sure that the welding machine calibration sticker is updated
- Perform all stainless steel welds with Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process as per company procedure
- Use flame-cutting equipment if instructed
Safety Equipment Requirement
- Gloves, face shield (as required)
- Hearing protection
- Safety glasses
- Safety Shoes (Met-Guard Type)
- Welding helmet (minimum shade 11)
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to read drawing
- Able to safely operate hand and power tools
- Good verbal and written communication skills
