Job Profile

The company is looking for a Welder who will weld metal components together with brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products for commercial indoor air handling equipment by performing the following duties.

Educational Level

  • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • Proven experience as a welder
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.)
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
  • Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Completes quality checks, documents results, and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Operates spot welder to assemble parts.
  • Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
  • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
  • Reads and interprets prints, work instructions, and drawings to fabricate metal parts.
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts; fills holes, and increases the size of metal parts.
  • Repairs purchased materials as needed utilizing welding, brazing, spot welding, and similar skills.
  • Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
  • Responsible for reporting work-related injuries and near misses to supervision.
  • Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
  • Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Deftness and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face shield, gloves, etc.)
  • Proficient in English
  • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, industrial/manufacturing environment, and be exposed to non-toxic fumes, chemicals, grease, and oils.
  • Ability to work with machinery and moving parts.
  • Ability to operate cranes, trucks, and motor vehicles.
  • Ability to work with moving vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to work at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to properly lift/carry/push/pull/manipulate/transport up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., and frequently lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surfaces.
  • Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, or similar activities.
  • Ability to reach high levels.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in the English Language
  • Must have the physical strength and ability to frequently work more than 40 hours weekly.
