Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Welding experience for 3+ plus years
- Experience with all types of hand tools such as torque wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, and crimping tools.
- Relevant experience reading and understanding drawings and specifications
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to travel and work in WTX for up to 2 weeks when needed and work in the shop or rig location.
- Ability to work some weekends.
- Able to participate and identify the root cause of assembly and testing failures.
- Able to understand direction and fulfill a task at the shop or rig location.
- Assembles and disassembles National Oilwell Varco proprietary and other proprietary oilfield equipment.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate with supervisor/manager to quickly resolve product and procedure problems.
- Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, following established methods and procedures
- Perform assignments under immediate or moderate supervision
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, engineering information sheets, work orders, checklists, and test reports.
- Reports any material discrepancies or material defects to the area supervisor.
- Use hand tools and power tools to secure parts in place.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality
- Demonstrable proficiency with assembling, testing, and calibrating complex devices in a manufacturing or similar work environment.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of test equipment including but not limited to, bench power supplies, hand-held meters, etc.
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
- Must be able to weld using 7018 STICK electrodes
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform light physical effort to lift or move materials up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to communicate, converse with, and exchange information employing the spoken and written word
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. to shoulder height
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and reach particularly for sustained periods
Working Conditions
- Ability to work at night.
- Ability to work in the South Texas & WTX weather environments, Cold, Hot, Rainy, and Windy Conditions.
- Available to work overtime as required.
- Machinery operation requires the use of forklift & safety equipment including but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots
- Standing 85% of the time
