Job Profile
The company is searching for a Welder to join its team.
Education Level
- Must have a Certificate/Degree in welding from a Certified Technical College or 12 months of professional welding experience.
Work Experience
- Must train and pass a minimum of 6G level GTAW
- GTAW B-31.3 on Aluminum pipe a plus, but not required
Duties/Responsibilities
- Must weld to x-ray quality at all times and when required, pass x-ray and dye penetrant check of welds
- FCAW to ASME standards
- May weld with other processes and varied weldments and metals as warranted
- Works from drawings and specifications
- Must identify material and markings to ensure proper piece parts and identification codes are present
- Identify and use proper Work Instructions and other related specifications
- Must perform fit-checks before final assembly with the potential to rework fitments to meet drawing specifications
- Responsible for the quality of weld joints and proper identification of the weld
- Setup and operation for ideal welding conditions
- Perform minor maintenance on all welding machines such as changing torch, foot pedal, fuses, loading and adjusting MIG wire feeder, and checking coolant reservoirs daily.
- Set up and operate portable plasma cutter
- Preheat preparation before welding per instructions
- Must keep work area clean and maintain shop housekeeping
- May need to perform a job from start to finish including cut/prep /Fitting/ Welding
- Unloading and loading of fabricated equipment or in-house materials
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must have good dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Responsible for quality workmanship and requirements to reduce or eliminate hold points.
- Understand and work with welding codes, techniques, and special instructions.
- Use and interpret sub-assembly drawings.
- Use measuring devices and have basic knowledge of math.
- Work closely with support groups such as Engineering and Supervisors.
- Work with MIG and TIG weld processes on SS/ Aluminum and other metals when necessary.

Work Environment
- Works in an average factory environment.
- Exposed to the following conditions: heat, sharp edges, sometimes above-average noise, burns, fumes, smoke, and dust.
- Protective equipment and clothing were provided.
- Works in awkward positions: bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, standing, sitting, and lifting 0 to 50 lbs. When lifting over 50 lbs, two people are required.
