Job Profile
The company is reaching for a Welder who will perform functions to weld product line assemblies in accordance with established weld procedure specifications.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited welding program
Work Experience
- The candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of industrial/construction or similar commercial welding experience, including the use of TIG (GTAW) and Stick (SMAW) welding processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Approach daily work with continuous improvement in mind, working to continuously develop and improve mechanical assembly department practices to reduce cycle time, improve machine availability and efficiency, and lower operating costs.
- Embrace a culture of respect, valuing inclusive teams and diverse perspectives to direct and train others as assigned, enabling the flow of information by inviting participation and responding productively;
- Prioritize safety above all else by maintaining a rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes, ensuring that safety risks and issues are identified, reported, and addressed immediately;
- Follow methods, standards, and work instructions to:
-Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness
-Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding processes
-Repair turbines and generators by applying appropriate welding techniques: Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Shielding Metal Arc (SMAW), and Submerged Arc Welding
-Set up and operate welding equipment: select appropriate materials, prep workpiece in accordance with part geometry, properties of a material, and scope of repair
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability and willingness to obey all safety rules including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection in designated areas
- Ability and willingness to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends, as business needs dictate

Desired Characteristics

- Ability to maintain rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes
- Ability to understand and use precision measuring equipment
- Ability to understand blueprints and technical drawings
- Accomplished skills in a trade with experience in Power Generating Equipment
- Basic understanding of Maths related to repairs and manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to adapt, be flexible, and maintain enthusiasm during periods of change to schedule and repairs parameters
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to perform inclusively in a diverse environment and to promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Two-year technical or Trade School Degree from an accredited college, university, or trade school
