Job Profile

The company is seeking an Apprentice Welder/Welder Helper with experience in industrial piping projects.

The position will be an integral part of the team working on the oilfield tailings and pipeline project.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants must possess valid CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems) certification and OSSA Regional Orientation or Basic Safety Orientation certificate

Work Experience

  • Must have previous pipe experience in an industrial setting
  • Rigging and hoisting experience is an asset

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Operate small power tools for the preparation or clean up of materials
  • Perform tasks to support the welding crews
  • Provide general clean up and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the work areas
  • Read and interpret drawings, weld procedures are an asset
  • Understand weld types, welding materials, tools, and equipment

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, be agile and be able to go on/off equipment
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and clear 3-year driver’s abstract
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing

Work Conditions

  • Shift based position working 14 days on 7 days off rotation
  • Site-based camp provided
  • Travel allowance provided for those that qualify
  • Flights are not provided; would suit locals or candidates residing in western Canada
  • Benefits provided by CLAC
  • Work will be primarily outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Working 10-12 hours per day
