Job Profile

The company is looking for a Welder I who will perform welding and metal preparation tasks such as sanding and grinding configurations.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

• Have a Welding Tech Degree/Certificate or 2+ years of applicable welding experience – may consider if Degree in process
• Obtain AWS D.1.1 weld certification within three months of hire

Duties/Responsibilities

• Effectively train new/current associates
• Fabricate, fit, and cut to meet blueprint standards
• Follow established safety, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, and practices to include proper use and care of PPE
• Inspect assembly/components for conformance with specifications
• Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material applying knowledge of shop math and layout techniques
• Maintain daily time records and any additional required records/documentation
• Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment
• Move to other work areas to support production needs (cross-train)
• Operate and understand all equipment within the work area (cell)
• Perform GMAW or FCAW welding by using a variety of arc and gas welding equipment
• Perform rework as required
• Read and interpret schematics (blueprints) and work orders
• Shows commitment to Altec’s core values
• Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives. May participate in continuous improvement events
• Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools
• Use basic hand tools such as tape measurer and specialty equipment
• Other job duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

• Vocational training
• State certification
• Experience in FCAW or GMAW
• Proficient knowledge of one of the following mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing/production processes

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Have the ability to read, write, and comprehend
• Have basic computer usage knowledge
• Have the ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics
