Job Profile
The company is searching for a Welder II who will assist in various welding and fabrication processes, with ample opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge.
Education Level
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- In the absence of a High School Diploma or GED, 3 years of relevant experience is required.
Work Experience
- Relevant TIG welding job experience working with Carbon Steel. Aluminum and Stainless steel TIG welding experience is also preferred but a combination of alloys is acceptable
- Certified operator in all Weld department functional cells
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Collins rules and codes of conduct
- Assists in cross training of new hires
- Audit work area for safety compliance
- Ensure quality product utilizing Collins quality procedures
- Identifies and implements improvements to standard work instructions through proper channels
- Intermediate PC skills for data entry, time card, and production time entries
- Look for ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks
- Perform stud welding and spot welding as required
- Perform TIG welding, bench drilling, sandblasting, and other secondary operations in support of weld fabrication processes
- Provides continuous improvement ideas to support lean and CORE initiatives
- Takes an active role to ensure Environment, Health, and Safety standards and procedures are met and complied with
- Perform other duties as required and available for overtime as necessary
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to learn and utilize inspection tools including calipers, tape measures, pin gauges, etc.
- Ability to perform and pass all required internal welding qualifications per UTAS Specialty Seating procedures for Carbon Steel, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel
- Ability to read and interpret engineering product drawings
- Ability to read and understand basic work instructions as provided for product fabrication
- General knowledge, skills, and understanding of hand and power tools including rotary tooling, sanding devices, manual deburring tools, wrenches, etc. needed for welding fabrication
- Intermediate mechanical knowledge
- Knowledge of how to troubleshoot tooling fixture issues and the ability to implement corrective actions
- Strong interpersonal skills
- S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements.
