The company is recruiting a Welder IV to join its team.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalency Certificate.
- Fundamental understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-1994
Work Experience
- 7+ years of experience with Tig (GTAW) welding per ASME B31.3 normal and high-pressure service applications
- 1+ years of experience working in a process piping environment, using various measurement and verification tools (laser level/projector, transit, plumb line, spirit level, inclinometer, etc.) to dimension and build piping runs to/from and around fixed objects.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding/brazing operations where procedural information is unavailable.
- Complete welding and brazing tasks and procedures for brazing assembly safely and in a professional manner.
- Cut, trim, or scarf metal objects, fit, and fabricate metal components to specified dimensions for building and assembling.
- Make a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and cooperatively.
- Obtain and maintain internal licenses, operator permits, or certifications as required.
- Utilize hand welding equipment to weld together metal components and parts to assemble structural forms.
- Visually inspect own brazes per AMS 2672 and internal specifications, with proper training.
- Visually inspect own welds per AWS D1.1 and ASME B31.3 (normal and high-pressure service) with proper training.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience using torch manual brazing, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, oxy-acetylene, fitting, arc gouging, and electronic welding equipment related to the trade.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments.
- Experience with standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding and brazing trades.
- General mechanical skills in machining, tube bending, and alignment/setting.
- Knowledge of arc air procedures and equipment.
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in relation to welding and brazing.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the trade.
- Knowledge of welding and brazing techniques, metallurgy, AWS/ASME codes, and engineering requirements.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, and lifting up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to work in hot, and cold environments.
- Overtime and weekends are available as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs.
- Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise. Must be diligent with using PPE, as required.
