Job Profile

The company is looking for a Welder Repair Tech who will inspect, troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend the best way to properly repair welding equipment in a manner that meets or exceeds the manufacturer’s operational guidance and safety.

The individual will use their knowledge, established methods, procedures, and techniques to repair welding and associated equipment.

Note: This is not a welding position – it is a repair position but welding knowledge is helpful.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants require a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Technical School training with an emphasis in mechanics and electronics (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Possess work-related experience

Preferred Experience

  • Miller Certified Service Tech, Lincoln Authorized Service Tech, Hypertherm Certified Repair Tech, or experience repairing Koike Cutting Tables, OTC, and Panasonic equipment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the CK Core Values through behavior and words
  • Assist in Warehouse and other departments as needed
  • Disassemble and reassemble machines using hand tools, welding, brazing equipment, and measuring instruments
  • Exhibit courteousness and professional image to customers
  • Follow and enforce all safety guidelines and requirements including proper personal protective equipment for employees and visitors
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain welding machines and associated equipment according to blueprints, catalogs, data charts, and technical knowledge
  • Make independent decisions affecting the quality of a repair
  • Perform estimates of repair for service equipment
  • Perform research on inquiries as necessary
  • Rewire electrical circuits as needed
  • Set up and operate repaired equipment to confirm accurate repair and operation
  • Other duties, as assigned, within the job classification and business

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others
  • Ability to count and write to accurately take inventory count and complete necessary paperwork
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment
  • Ability to perform heavy work – routinely lifting 25 – 75 pounds from the floor to waist and occasionally lifting 76 to greater than 100 pounds from the floor to waist
  • Ability to read and comprehend vendor repair manuals and instructions
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to work overtime and some Saturday hours as needed
  • Must be able to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend and climb ladders
  • Must be able to maneuver all equipment and tools
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be capable of passing test certification from two or more of the following companies within 24 months of hiring, i.e. Miller, Lincoln, ESAB, OTC, Koike, or Hypertherm
  • Must have extensive knowledge of mechanics and electricity
  • Preferred knowledge or experience of welding processes
  • Vision correctable to within normal range for vehicle driving, report completion, and operation of all equipment

Work Environment

  • Occasionally, may be sent to customer locations for repair
  • Work around dirt/dust
  • Work in noisy, loud conditions for brief periods of time
  • Working in an uncontrolled temperature environment

Safety Equipment-

  • All proper safety equipment must be worn according to company policies and OSHA/AWS regulations including, but not limited to: safety glasses, safety boots, welding hoods and gloves when testing equipment, and ear protection.
