Job Profile

The company is searching for a Welder Repair Technician I who will perform a dual role as Repair Technician and Driver.

As a Repair Technician – Be responsible for repairing, refurbishing, and maintaining engine-driven generators and ensuring a safe working environment.

As a Driver – Be responsible for the safe delivery and pick-up of welding equipment, parts, supplies, and accessories to and from our customers in a commercial vehicle.

Education Level

  • Post-secondary education equivalent to a 1-year Technical College or equivalent is (an asset)

Work Experience

  • 2-3 plus years of related technical experience
  • Working knowledge of power generating and welding equipment, welding application and equipment is an asset.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assembles diesel, gas, and propane equipment for rental. Tests and calibrates machines to see if they are functional for rent or sale.
  • Ensures a clean and organized work environment at all times.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
  • Ensures efficient and safe delivery of customer equipment requirements as per shipping documentation.
  • Inspects returned equipment for proper operation or damage by the customer.
  • Maintains communication with all branch personnel.
  • Operates a forklift, pallet jack, or other necessary equipment to stock required parts in the shop.
  • Operates company commercial vehicles to deliver welding equipment and supplies to customer sites as required.
  • Orders parts as required to complete repairs.
  • Prepares accurate shipping documentation, and travel logs including signed copies of all documents, returns, and shortages noted and damage records.
  • Prepares and completes paperwork for all machine repairs
  • Prepares and tests welding equipment for delivery to customers.
  • Repaints parts, touches up paint and puts decals on welders to maintain general appearance.
  • Replaces defective parts and completes preventative maintenance required.
  • Works closely with the Branch Coordinator/Branch Manager to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Communicates with clarity, verbally in one-on-one or group situations, and over the telephone.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
