Job Profile

The company is seeking a Welder Technician Lead who will directly oversee production for an assigned area or department, including inspections and any required documentation as directed by the Foreman or Plant Manager.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

  • 2+ years of welding experience
  • 2+ years of work-related experience in manufacturing

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensures all applicable regulatory and statutory requirements are followed.
  • Ensures all EHS rules are followed and maintains work area in clean and orderly condition and maintains a safe work environment through awareness of surroundings and potential hazards.
  • Ensures personnel have applicable tools, and procedures, to complete required tasks being performed.
  • Ensures work is being performed following all applicable Association of American Railroads, The Greenbrier Companies, and customer procedures.
  • Monitors and evaluates employee performance, and ensures personnel sign off work orders as line items are completed.
  • Performs in-process inspections, writes up, and supervises any additional repairs.
  • Promotes and exhibits an attitude of teamwork with all employees.
  • Provides direction and assistance to production personnel and supervises assigned workforce crew, providing training and guidance.
  • Signs off on completed work orders and notifies the Foreman or Production Manager when work is completed.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to accommodate on-call responsibilities and work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to drive results through information and team performance.
  • Ability to obtain American Hydraulics certified welder certification upon commencement of employment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.

Work Environment

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in hot and cold environments, in and out of the weather, and work safely around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars, as well as around railroad tracks.
  • Employees are required to use personal protective equipment such as steel toe boots, hard hats, hearing protection, safety glasses, welding and grinding shields, etc., or as environmental conditions dictate.
