Job Profile
The company is looking for a Welding Automation Engineer who will perform cost justification, lead project reviews, obtain financial approval, and work with integrators and contractors to fully implement automated equipment.
Perform troubleshooting, design improvements, and retrofitting of previously implemented automated and semi-automated equipment.
Education Level
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering from a College/University
Work Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment, 4+ years of work experience in a comparable industry
- Experience leading multiple large CapEx projects
- Experience with existing manufacturing technologies, including but not limited to welding, fabrication, painting, manual assembly
- Experience with factory automation, maintenance, and integrating engineering designs into production
- Practical Lean principles experience with proven success using the tools
Duties/Responsibilities
- Address production efficiency issues and implement solutions
- Build safety into every aspect of equipment
- Conduct studies to improve equipment OEE
- Design equipment and procedures to automate the production process
- Develop and document Operator and Maintenance training
- Ensure volume and mix flexibility in equipment and processes
- Identify and qualify equipment integrators and suppliers
- Improve labor, space efficiency, and costs effectiveness
- Justify, install, test, qualify, administer training, and successfully implement equipment into full production
- Perform system diagnostics and prepare reports
- Prepare and present concept layouts and drawings
- Standardize equipment and processes across plants
- Work cross-functionally with teams to aid in increased efficiency of production and Manufacturing Engineering processes
- Work with Maintenance to create maintenance procedures, PM schedule, and spare parts list
- Other continuous improvement duties as assigned
Preferred Credentials
- CWI certificate a plus
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is highly desirable
- PMP certificate a plus
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Minitab
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with the project management process from start to finish
- Quality orientation and attention to detail
