Job Profile

The company is looking for a Welding Engineer or Operations Engineer 1 (level 1) who will provide manufacturing expertise to solve difficult problems and continuously improve our manufacturing organization and/or supply base.

Supports production from a technical standpoint.

The position will report to Technical Leadership.

Educational Qualification

  • The applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical/Science or International equivalent (required)
  • Professional Certifications preferred (i.e. AWS, SME, CWE, CWI, etc.)

Work Experience

  • No professional experience is required
  • Internship in related industry (desired)

Duties/Responsibilities

Essential Functions-

  • Adheres to applicable Quality System requirements
  • Creates and maintains process documentation and updates work order documentation
  • General understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) concepts and supports new product introduction
  • General understanding of Six Sigma and Lean tools to improve processes
  • Learns from more senior Operations Engineers. You may guide/direct Manufacturing Specialists.
  • Learns the steps involved to incorporate process improvements
  • Recognizes problems that are beyond capabilities and is learning from the experts in the area
  • Represents the company with our customers
  • Supports cell layouts and process improvement initiatives
  • Supports implementation of basic engineering changes
  • Supports new capital equipment purchases and implementation
  • Supports Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, and Control Plans
  • Supports technical solutions
  • Supports the manufacturing floor for any process related questions
  • Supports updates to management on operations status

Other Functions-

  • General understanding tools and fixturing
  • General understanding of all applicable software
  • Manufacturing Engineering Specific Functions: General understanding of applicable manufacturing processes
  • Industrial Engineer Specific Functions: General design understanding of process layouts and supports ergonomic studies, time studies, and implementation
  • Controls Engineer Specific Functions: General understanding of PLC’s and Automation

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Effective written/verbal communication skills, basic presentation skills
  • General computer and basic technical writing skills
  • General Project planning tools
  • General Six Sigma knowledge; Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • General troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; General understanding of Root Cause Analysis
  • General understanding and ability to read electrical and/or mechanical machine drawings
  • General understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) concepts and supports new product introduction

Manufacturing Engineering-

  • General understanding of applicable manufacturing processes; Ability to apply advanced knowledge of capabilities studies, Gage R&R, and machine capability; General understanding and ability to read product drawings

Industrial Engineering-

  • General understanding of applicable manufacturing processes; Ability to apply advanced knowledge of capabilities studies, Gage R&R, and machine capability; General understanding and ability to read product drawings

Controls Engineering-

  • General knowledge of database management software skills

Materials/Equipment Used

  • Other manufacturing equipment, as required.
  • PC’s, copiers

Working Environment/Physical Activities

  • May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Office environment
  • Production environment with possible exposure to noise, dust, and temperatures above 80 degrees F
