Job Profile
Tenneco Clean Air is seeking a Welding Engineer who will work with Process and Quality engineers to define and set up new welding equipment.
Solves welding quality issues; trains quality inspectors and other employees; leads welding activities to continuously improve welding processes and productivity, reduce downtime, scrap, and rework.
The position will report to the Engineering Manager.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Welding
Work Experience
- The candidates should have a minimum 3 of years of working experience in the automotive industry
- Experience in Resistance Welding and MIG welding processes
Duties/Responsibilities
- Actively participate in ongoing continual improvement activities and initiatives
- Collect and report monitoring data in support of the EHS management system
- Comply with requirements and assist in the maintenance of the necessary quality standards (QS9000/ISO/TS16949/ISO14001) to ensure re-certification
- Continuously improve existing welding processes for enhancing welding productivity and reducing downtime
- Develop Welder Qualification Program; assist Human Resource Dept. to conduct welder test and provide welding training to employee
- Lead and develop PFEAMs for welding processes and support Quality Engineers to develop Quality Control Plan
- Participate and promote EHS activities
- Participate in the activities of the Corporate Welding Best Practice team
- Participate on EHS teams and committees
- Report opportunities for improvement and any EHS issues
- Research advanced welding technology for new projects and materials
- Set up a weld test lab, purchase test equipment, develop weld test procedures and instruct lab technicians; develop weld destructive test schedule; supervise Weld Test Laboratory
- Stop work activities that create EHS hazards
- Strive towards meeting company EHS goals
- Support product engineers to define welding machining and tooling; choose welding materials, set up welding machines and develop welding procedures for new projects
- Support purchasing department to review suppliers’ quality issues and solve process or quality issues from suppliers
- Support quality engineers to investigate the root cause of weld quality issues from customers and develop corrective action plans
- Technically assist Quality Control for quality improvement and Maintenance for Total Preventative Maintenance for welding machines
- Understand and follow all EHS policies
- Work on critical welding processes to solve welding quality problems
