Job Profile
The company is looking for a Welding Engineer who will assume the responsibilities related to welding engineering.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering with a Welding Specialization or relevant training from a college or university
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec
Work Experience
- Possess 3 to 5 years of experience
- Have experience in production in the manufacturing industry (an asset)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze issues related to welding processes
- Assess employees’ welding skills
- Assess the customer’s overall welding needs and transfer them to internal technical documents
- Carry out assessments of technical requirements of the processes used
- Coordinate with HR to ensure that welding personnel are qualified according to production needs
- Determine equipment needs based on production requirements and constraints
- Develop new skills based on new welding processes
- Develop new welding procedures and processes as required
- Ensure that welding certifications are maintained according to CSA W47.1 and CSA W47.2
- Monitor and implement new welding technologies
- Participate in employee technical development plans
- Participate in the start-up of the equipment and make the required adjustments
- Participate in the validation and testing stages
- Provide technical support for new bids
- Review and modify training plans based on production needs
- Verify welding data books by offering technical advice regarding manufacturing deviations
- Write and keep up to date on the welding procedures and instructions used by operations
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to communicate efficiently in both French and English
- Proficiency in reading project plans and specifications
- Thorough knowledge of welding standards, W47.1, W59, ASME Sect. IX, ASME B31.3, and B31.1
