Job Profile

The candidates are required to develop welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to problems involving the fabrication of metals.

Educational Qualification

The aspiring applicants should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) Welding Engineering from a welding school.

Work Experience

  • They should have 5-10 years of experience in a welding manufacturing environment utilizing AWS D14.9 Specification for the Welding of Hydraulic Cylinders.
  • Robotic welding experience (ABB and FANUC preferred)
  • Welding experience in SAW, GMAW, GTAW, FRW processes on a variety of low carbon and high strength steels.
  • Destructive testing experience (setting up the process and training others) for SAW, GMAW, GTAW, FRW
  • Non-destructive testing experience (mag particle, die penetrate, and visual) for SAW, GMAW, GTAW, FRW

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre-and post-heating requirements which involve the use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.
  • Annually reviews requirements for weld training met lab and all other expectations
  • Manages welding equipment, including fixtures and processes for fitness of use. Plans equipment programming, and manpower required to support production requirements
  • Recommend resources and estimate timing to fill the gap
  • Lead training welders to the new standards
  • Reviews new products and designs for special weld requirements, best practices, fixturing, and establishes production rates/routings
  • Analyze and prepare gap analysis to current state and create a plan to fill the gap
  • Prepares technical reports as a result of research and development, product evaluations, and preventive maintenance investigations
  • Evaluates new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes
  • Develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or correlate and substantiate hypotheses
  • Performs experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials
  • Contacts engineering personnel, personnel of other agencies, or customers to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning welding matters
  • Directs and coordinates Weld technical personnel
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to apply advanced college-level mathematical concepts relative to this position
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
