Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Weld/Fab Supervisor for its Manufacturing Engineering department.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree (college/university) and 9 or more years of progressive professional experience in a related technical field with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory capacity.

Note: May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyzes work orders and blueprints such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required.
  • Assign daily tasks in accordance with established schedules.
  • Assigns, directs, and reviews their work.
  • Assists engineering staff to resolve design and documentation issues.
  • Assists test department with expeditious turnaround of repairs as required.
  • Ensures accurate time charging.
  • Examines defective equipment to determine the cause of malfunction and reports the need for repairs.
  • Expected to work and lead the workplace in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Formulates and recommends plans, policies, procedures, and schedules for the section.
  • Help determine manpower requirements.
  • Help during the interview and hiring process.
  • Implements configuration changes in the product and supports field upgrades and operations.
  • Inspects work in progress and finished products.
  • Interfaces with planning personnel in the generation of process flow, as well as with quality assurance personnel.
  • lnterfaces with production control to help prevent material and equipment shortages.
  • May interface with customers to answer questions relating to the product.
  • May interface with outside vendors and sales representatives to stay current on new products and services.
  • Monitors usage and supply of all production materials and tooling; reorder when necessary.
  • Offers guidance and coaching to manufacturing personnel.
  • Oversees the design and building of tooling needed for the production process.
  • Participates in hiring, promoting, and training subordinate employees.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Responsible for observing all Jaws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Schedules and coordinates work assignments.
  • Seeks methods to improve product quality, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the departments.
  • Supervises welders during the fabrication process.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must demonstrate an extensive technical understanding of the following welding processes GTAW, GMAW SMAW, FCAW, and SAW.
  • Familiar with Brakes, Plasma Table, and hand tools.
  • The ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established milestones.
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex matters of diverse scope and nature.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including management and outside representatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees and external representatives.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to represent the company on external projects.
  • Strong computer skills. The ability to work extended hours and travel is required.
