Job Profile

The company is looking for a Welding Inspector I to join its team.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a High School Diploma, GED, or Technical Degree

Work Experience

• Possess 1 to 3 years of welding experience
• 1-3 years of welding inspection experience

Specialized Experience

• Acquire Certification within 60 days of hire
• ASNT VT Level II – preferred

Duties/Responsibilities

• Ability to answer welding-related questions or know where to direct questions
• Able to identify weld discontinuities
• Basic understanding of weld acceptance criteria
• Basic weld inspection tool usage: fillet gauge, V-WAC gauge, combination square, protractor, caliper, tape measure, flashlight, mirror, magnifying glass, temperature crayon
• Communicate welding nonconformance to Welding Supervisor, Welding Trainer, Welder Development Coordinator, Lead Weld Inspector
• Comprehend the introduction to the First Article Inspection (FAIs)
• Document results of inspections, including VT reports and weld maps
• Follow all safety procedures
• Fully inspect weldments and sub-weldments
• Label nonconforming parts
• Maintain material certifications and inspection documentation
• Read and interpret basic drawings, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbols
• Use calibrated measuring equipment where applicable

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Good verbal and written communication skills are required
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required

Physical Demands

• Frequently: sit, grasp/hold, fine manipulation of both hands
• Occasionally: reach at shoulder, lift/carry, and walk
• Seldom: stand, reach below shoulder, reach above shoulder
