Job Profile
The company is looking for a Welding Process Sales Specialist who will be an expert in the area of Welding Processes, Welding Applications, and the Economics of Welding.
This Sales position is designed to shorten the sales cycle through efficiency analysis, engineered cost reduction, shield gas selection, weld training, technical information, and automation selection.
Educational Qualification
- The applicants should have an Associate’s Degree in Welding (AAS), Military Weld training acceptable, or Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) from a 4-year college or university (preferred)
- An established track record as a producer could possibly supersede educational requirements.
Work Experience
- The candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in the welding industry with 3 years minimum in sales (preferred)
- TQM, Lean, or Six Sigma background
Duties/Responsibilities
- Answer customer inquiries and satisfactorily resolve customer complaints.
- Explain how Airgas can match customers’ needs with the appropriate products and services.
- Increase sales and margin profit through Efficiency Analysis and Engineered Cost Reduction.
- Make customer sales calls and provide product and application training.
- Must conduct themselves in a safe manner at all times and also be a proactive advocate of safety; promoting safety by example and aggressive promotion of safety with other associates and customers.
- Provide information and training concerning Airgas Shielding Gasses, weld products, and services.
- Serve as a highly proficient Airgas Sales representative for prospects and existing local and national customers.
- Should be able to discuss Flexible, Fixed Automation applications and CNC cutting systems.
- Uses Airgas Sales tools (Efficiency Analysis, Weld surveys, Welding 201) to gain and retain business.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Minimum of seven years experience in the Welding Industry and be highly proficient with complex/technical sales.
- Must be able to apply mathematical formulas that quantify the costs associated with the processes so analysis and comparisons may be created.
- Must be self-motivated, success-oriented, mechanically
- Must have presentation skills and confidence to permit selling to high-level officers of customer companies.
- Must have a broad knowledge of the welding, cutting, and fabrication processes common to the Airgas customer base including but not limited to:
-Manual, semi-automated, and automated welding processes
-Shielding gas applications
-Basic shop equipment used for punching, forming, bending, or rolling both plate and structural components.
-Interpretation of blueprints of at least an intermediate level, including welding symbols.
-Basic takeoff and estimating techniques and rudimentary drafting skills.
-Knowledge of welding and power equipment from many different suppliers.
-Knowledge of bulk gas facilities and distribution through manifolds, mixers, and piping systems.
Certificates/Licenses
- CWSR (Certified Welding Sales Representative)
- Membership within organizations such as AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, and SME is desirable.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- OSHA 10 Hour or OSHA 30 Hour card.
- Two or more of the following six Certifications-
-ASNT ACCP Level II or III
–CWE (Certified Welding Educator)
–CWEng (Certified Welding Engineer)
–CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
–CWS (Certified Welding Supervisor)
-NCCER Instructor, Core, and Welding (National Center for Construction Education and Research)
