Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Welding QC Inspector who will be responsible for inspecting products to ensure they meet quality and contract specifications and meet external certification standards.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants may require a High School Diploma
- AWS Certified Weld Inspector or Associate Inspector (preferred)
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of welding experience
- An equivalent training in manufacturing/structural steel
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Associate Welding Inspector
- Certified Welding Inspector
Duties/Responsibilities
- Annual calibration of welding equipment, QC inspection equipment, and pre-qualifications for bolts, as applicable per site.
- Apply and work within appropriate controls related to Safety and Housekeeping.
- Document and segregate non-conforming fabricated material and workmanship.
- Ensure that all materials and workmanship are completed in accordance with UL, STI, API, AWS, AISC, or City of LA standards, drawings, and specifications, as applicable per site.
- Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
- Inspect materials and finished goods to ensure they meet customer requirements and/or contract specifications, including but not limited to checking welds, welding consumables, base material, cut and formed parts, layout work, and coatings.
- Insure Welding Specification Procedures (WPS) are current and in place for projects, as applicable per site.
- Operate overhead crane safely.
- Prompt and dependable attendance.
- Remain current with AWS CWI and City of LA Supervisor or Inspector licenses, code analysis, industry standards, procedures, and processes, as applicable per site.
- Represent the company, as needed, on-field issues requiring investigation and decisions associated with product quality and conformance.
- Responsible for inspecting products to ensure they meet quality and contract specifications and meet external certification standards.
- Review and work with site management and shop supervisor to address remedies for non-conformances and their prevention.
- Review welding specs or requirements for each project and work with the team to solve fabrication challenges.
- Supervise or conduct Welder Qualification Test Reports (WQTR) to AWS (D1.1 or D1.5) and CWB standards, as applicable per site.
- Understand, support, and implement the company Quality Management System.
- Willing to work flexible hours and overtime or weekends as needed.
- Work with Quality Assurance and Site Managers and Shop Supervisor to develop annual training programs for new and experienced employees to minimize product non-conformance.
- Other duties as assigned.
