Job Profile

The company is searching for a Welding Technical Specialist who will do the following functions-

To ‘get the product right’ and do so by delivering product designs that enable a flawless launch.

Provide manufacturability direction for welding and laser trim operations to the product engineering team during early concept development.

Act as the subject matter expert for welding and laser trim for the products as they move into design release and production.

Work closely with the manufacturing responsible engineering team (MRE) to help guide the product development team (PDT) to ensure the manufacturability of components.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline from a college or university

Work Experience

  • Possess related-work experience (preferred, not required)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Participate in Process Failure Alert reviews, PRTS, GRAT, warranty reduction, and quality improvement processes to assure lessons learned are captured and included in global BOP/BOE
  • Serve as a liaison with advanced engineering for technical developments, including ATW projects and manufacturing validation
  • Subject matter expert in manufacturing system design for battery welding and laser cutting
  • Recognized expert for technology implementation across all products, providing technical direction to others-
    -Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch, and continuous improvement of systems, equipment, and tools required in plants to produce high-quality parts
    -Develop global bill of process/bill of equipment documents
    -Efficient material flow
    -Human factors consideration
    -Manufacturing process development and definition
    -Sequence of operations

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Responsible for supporting activities that include-
    -New product program and launch experience
    -Proven ability in project management skills
    -Proven ability to coach, guide, and teach other engineers as well as equipment suppliers
    -Proven expert technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines (specifically battery welding and laser cutting processes)
    -Significant Manufacturing Engineering experience – (10) years of experience in manufacturing engineering on multiple battery designs
  • Proven expert skill level in the following technologies relating to battery or related welded assembly-
    -Design for Battery Manufacturability
    -GD&T and tolerance stacks
    -Manufacturing processes

Travel

  • Willingness/ability to travel globally to production facilities and OEMs as required
