Job Profile

The company is seeking a Welding Technician who will perform welding tip changes, troubleshooting, and PM activities of welding tools and equipment to ensure robust PM completion as per schedule to prevent unnecessary downtime.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a Diploma in Welding/Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent or a minimum of 2 years of practical field experience without a Diploma.

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience in a similar role (ideally in production orientated environment, with emphasis on welding processes)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Changing over jobs and setting up weld tooling on automated equipment
  • Changing welding tips daily on Spot Welding and MIG welding systems as required
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspects of the job
  • Follow company policies on Health, Safety, and Environment and PPE requirements
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the company safety policies
  • Make appropriate modifications to welding equipment to ensure a high level of running efficiency
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on robots and automated welding machines in a timely manner.
  • Programming and troubleshooting Medar, Lincoln, Miller, and Panasonic weld controllers to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Provide Technical and problem-solving skills in support of the Junior Weld Technician or Weld Trainee as needed
  • Responsible for making required modifications to robotic equipment to meet quality standards. (ABB, Motoman, Fanuc, Panasonic)
  • Responsible to maintain good housekeeping in the work area at all times
  • Troubleshoot Robotic welding and rectify problems with weld issues

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player
  • Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
  • Excellent attendance
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts as required and occasional alternative hours, if necessary to meet customer requirements
  • Good English Communication Skills (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of Spot Welding (Medar Weld Controls) and Mig Welding Processes (GMAW/FCAW)
  • Respecting and understanding the Customer/Supplier relationship
  • Support Quality Systems, Health, safety, and Environmental Management Systems Requirements

Working Conditions

  • 100% plant floor (PPE required)

  • Lifting and pushing as needed
  • Require communication with employees, peers, and management

Health/Safety

  • Prohibited from walking under a suspended hoist, cranes, or forklifts.
  • Must follow all LOTO procedures
  • Comply with all environmental requirements including our recycling program.
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices, or certain clothing as required by the company.
  • Must work in accordance with health and safety regulations, company rules, plant rules, policies, and procedures
