Job Profile

The company is looking for a Welding/Thermal Spray Operator who will set up and operate all equipment within the Thermal Spray production environment.

Be responsible for measuring and controlling product quality and making process changes within the scope of the standard operating procedures including welding within the plant.

Education Level

• High School Diploma (required)
• Technical Trades School or Associate’s Degree (preferred)
• In lieu of schooling, industry experience is accepted.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of welding experience (4 years preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years Flame Spray (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Examine material to ensure conformance to established standards.
• Follow all Environmental and Health and Safety Policy requirements.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations and take action to correct unsafe conditions if identified.
• Monitor machine parameters affecting the quality of the coating including console readings, and process temperatures.
• Operates lift truck and other material handling equipment.
• Perform in-process dimensional checks using a micrometer, caliper, or other instrumentation.
• Prepare and spray microstructure lab samples.
• Prepare parts for thermal spraying to include cleaning, fixturing, masking, and grit blasting.
• Reads and applies information contained in specifications to determine equipment settings that impact product outputs.
• Reports to shift supervisor on production status, problems, and deviations
• Review job traveler and drawings to determine areas of the part to be masked, cleaned, grit blasted, and coated.
• Set up various types of tooling, fixturing, and parts for coating.
• Weld applications as needed per prints. Weld stainless steel and aluminum materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to perform dimensional inspection using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to service and maintain guns, hoses, cables, and powder feeder equipment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
• Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instruction in English.
• Must have basic knowledge of machining and manufacturing practices.
• A strong mathematics foundation is required.
• Working knowledge with setups, programs, and operation of multi-axis robots is a plus
