Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Mechanical Designer to join its team.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should possess a Post-Secondary Education Diploma or Degree from a recognized Mechanical Engineering Technical Program, or have equivalent knowledge and experience in good academic standing
Work Experience
- As a minimum, be a Design Technologist with at least 5 to 10 years of practical experience in the mechanical design field
Expected Experience-
- Thorough knowledge of drafting principles and standards to enable checking and verification of design drawings for compliance with applicable specifications
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and representation of those on drawings and design documents including welding symbols and notations.
- Proficient in the use of 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting using Solid Edge or Solid Works software; proficient in the creation of technical documents and specifications.
Credible Experience-
- Ability to interpret and apply GD&T.
- Capability to perform calculations to support design optimization and some exposure or working knowledge of FEA.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics systems.
- Preparation of proposals and project management of complex design programs.
- Special purpose machinery and tool design for nuclear applications, knowledge of electrical device usage and control systems.
- Welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques such as radiography, NDT, or NDE.
- Working knowledge of the principles of fluid flow and heat transfer; experience in the design and manufacturing of products for the nuclear market
Duties/Responsibilities
- Knowledge of material properties and the behavior of materials and structures under multiple load combinations
- Perform preliminary engineering calculations.
- Prepare written technical descriptions, reports, and other technical documents.
- Produce and review detailed drawings and bills of materials.
- Review of designs and drawings for accuracy, material selection, and manufacturability.
- Specify or evaluate appropriate purchased components.
- The ability to carry out effective requirement capture from customer inquiries and technical specifications such that you are able to develop concept designs.
