Job Profile

The company is hiring a Tool and Die Maker who will use written/verbal instructions and be responsible for the construction/repair/preventative maintenance of machine shop tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs, and dies for the division.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have an equivalent to completion of specialized courses consisting of more than 2 academic years at the community or specialized colleges
  • Current Tool and Die Maker’s certificate of qualification

Work Experience

  • Possess over 4 years of experience
  • Experience in automotive heavy stamping environment (an asset)
  • Experience with jig and fixture building (an asset)
  • Own tools required

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists other trades/operators as required.
  • Basic computer software use
  • Completes and Records information and maintains toolroom records either manually or on a computer.
  • Constructs, repairs, and maintains the tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs, and dies
  • Coordinates die repair and preventative maintenance scheduling in order to meet job deadlines and request overtime authorization when required.
  • Ensures that data entered into the e-Maintenance system is correct and accurate with the right amount of time and with enough detailed information to follow up and find the root cause of the technical problems (Hours Paid Vs Hours entered)
  • Equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Locates/determines reasons for a die failure
  • Participates in the training of tool and die apprentices as required

Equipment/Product Familiarity

  • Equipment – Various grinders/mills, lathes, various hand tools, TIG welder, and crane
  • Products – Various steel products, oils, and lubricants
