Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Machinist I who will produce machined parts by setting up and operating a manual or a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining safety and quality standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Documents actions by completing production and quality travelers.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs through documented turnovers.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, and, milling operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting controls, as required; replacing worn tools and inserts; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Plans machining by interpreting blueprints, materials, repair scope and specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Sets up mills, lathes, and grinders by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, and fixtures; indicating vices; tramming heads.
  • Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, and geometry; proving part programs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications and manuals.
  • Verifies settings; adheres to aerospace quality standards (site is ISO 9001 certified).
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
