Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Principal Pipeline Engineer (Materials Specialist) with a specialty in metallurgy, materials, welding, and non-destructive testing.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have an accredited 4-years Degree or Global Equivalent in an engineering field of study (college/university)
- A recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required

Work Experience
- Possess 16 years of work-related experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaboration with project management/engineering staff to achieve project objectives
- Coordination with other disciplines and companies including construction, contractors, surveyors, fabricators, etc.
- Cost-effective and efficient design for projects
- Risk identification and mitigation
- Development and maintenance of scopes of work and associated schedules
- Development of pipeline welding specifications and non-destructive testing specifications
- Development of specifications and data sheets for pipeline materials
- Implementing corporate quality standards on projects to maintain quality and timeliness of deliverables (drawings, calculations, etc.)
- Mentor intermediate and junior pipeline engineers and provide in-house technical expertise to other disciplines
- Selection of materials for use in pipeline service
- Support proposal development and estimating man-hours
- Write Specifications for Design, Materials, and Construction
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability, and cost of materials
- Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
- Intermediate computer and software skills including the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs
- Managing and leading a large project
- Practical field experience
- Professional registration and membership in a technical society
- Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job

- Have knowledge of ASME B31.4 and ASME B31.8
- Have knowledge of International Pipeline Standards
- Have strong knowledge of API 1104
- Have strong knowledge of Pipeline Material Standards
- Knowledge of GIS and its application to pipeline design
- Knowledge of pipeline construction
- Value safety in both personal conduct and application in design
