Job Profile
The company is searching for a Systems Technician (HVACR Research Lab) who will work directly with DSN and Research to build, test, evaluate, and enhance HVACR systems, system components, and compressors.
Use technical expertise to assess new technologies and will provide technical insights to engineering and lab management to enhance testing methods and processes.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have an Associate’s Degree in HVACR (college/university) plus 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum 1 year of experience in HVACR testing lab or fieldwork or equivalent experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Build and install HVACR systems and test using psychrometric chambers at the Design Services Network facility (DSN) and Research Systems Lab
- Build prototype compressors using a variety of hand/power tools and specialized equipment including ovens, presses, band saws, mills, lathes, and welding equipment
- Communicate project status with engineering teams and lab management
- Effectively install and utilize power analyzers and other data acquisition equipment to collect critical information for projects
- Evaluate new technologies and work with engineering to find new and creative ways to test and collect data needed
- Lab equipment maintenance and builds
- Test prototype compressors using a variety of equipment including calorimeters, mass flow stands, life test stands, and chiller testing rigs
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC/R systems testing experience
- Chiller and systems control knowledge
- Experience with compressor builds
- Experience with variable speed drives
- Welding, Machining, and Fabrication experience
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship will not be provided for this role)
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Tools
