Job Profile

The company is searching for a Shear/Brake/Roll/Saw Operator who will tend to metal fabricating machines such as forming machines, rolls, brakes, presses, and punch, which cut, shape, and bend rolled metal.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • Possess metal fabrication experience, preferably in shear/brake and roll-forming or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical experience with hand tools (i.e., saws, hacksaws, tin snips) preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adjusts machine to material and finished product requirements.
  • Assures product quality by adjusting the machine to remove burrs and sharp edges from the material.
  • Completes production records on finished goods.
  • Feeds metal into fabrication machine.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines and dies.
  • Reports machine and product quality issues to supervisors.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and understand tape measurers and calculators.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to stand

Work Environment

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and heat (proper PPE and safety training will be provided)
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
