Job Profile

The company is seeking a Precision Finisher (Weld Clean Up) who will be part of an elite aerospace weld repair shop to repair aluminum and magnesium sand castings.

Responsible for removing, cleaning, and reconfiguring welded castings to match required surface finishes, dimensions, and tolerances.

Education Level

• High School Diploma (preferred)

Work Experience

• A minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing or production environment (preferred)
• Experienced with pneumatic tools, die grinders, cutters, and abrasives.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Alternates between cleanup and dig-out roles to accommodate immediate demand
• Blues and paint castings for scribing using templates to maintain configuration.
• Cleans and shapes castings after welding.
• Interprets X-ray film to blend/remove defects.
• Maintains a clean and organized workstation per company 6S criteria.
• Notifies department lead or group leader of job irregularities, faulty equipment, or material.
• Observe plant safety rules and regulations.
• Prepares castings for welding.
• Receive work assignments from the group leader.
• Remove defects as indicated on X-ray film as required
• Uses calipers, templates, straight edges, and gauges.
• Uses pneumatic powered tools to grind and polish castings to required shapes and surface finish.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to use height gages, micrometers, calipers, etc., to measure, check, and correlate information with specifications.
• Must be able to deadlift 50 lbs. with appropriate technique.
• Must be able to work on feet for 8+ hours/day
• Must be able/willing to work overtime, including Saturdays, when/if needed.
• Must be able to speak and comprehend English (bilingual in Spanish preferred)
