Job Profile

The company is searching for a Fitter/Welder who will lay out and weld pole sections in preparation for welding.

Education Level

• High School Graduate or equivalent

Work Experience

• Possess work-related experience (a plus)
• Successful completion of a weld test. 1G

Duties/Responsibilities

• Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment.
• Actively participate in department safety, and demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors that conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
• Does repetitive types of welding operations according to procedures established by others and uses hand tools and measuring devices in the performance of work.
• Laying out, aligning, and welding fabricated metal products used in electrical poles, substations, and other structures.
• Welds structural units as required.
• Works under conditions with accurate performance and completion of work within set time limits.
• Works under the guidance of others to fit components together in the shop from blueprints, in preparation for welding.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements.
• Ability to prioritize work to complete deadlines. Must also be able to work through problems with the minimum amount of assistance from the lead person or the supervisor.
• Ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors.
• Able to read blueprints to properly fit up products.
• At the end of 90 Calendar days, the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance as determined by Management.
• Knowledge of quality requirements and standards.
