Job Profile

The company is hiring a Machinist who will support the operation of the refinery by properly maintaining and repairing refinery mechanical systems. This allows for safe, compliant, and reliable refinery operations to support the refinery’s strategic business goals.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

• Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machinist/ Pump Mechanic in refining, chemical, power industry, or related military experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Document work performed in test forms and condition reports.
• Ensure required documentation of repairs, modifications, and training are completed in a timely and meticulous manner.
• Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance (vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.), and condition-based monitoring.
• Maintenance Craftwork in a safety-sensitive work environment that requires compliance with a continuous random drug and alcohol testing program.
• Must properly use and handle safety materials and equipment such as personal protective equipment, respirators, and air-supplied breathing apparatus.
• Operate equipment such as overhead jobs and cranes, forklifts, and shop machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and other machinery to fabricate precision parts.
• Perform maintenance per established written procedures.
• Repair, rebuild, or upgrade mechanical equipment per MPC specifications, standards, and drawings.
• Shop and field troubleshoot & repair refinery machinery including but not limited to pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, gearboxes, etc.
• Use drawings, equipment manuals, procedures, and proper tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Use hand and precision measurement tools common to the trade.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Must have basic computer skills with Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License upon hire.
• Must complete a hands-on skills assessment.

Work Environment

• Perform in various environmental conditions in the refinery including, but not limited to indoors, such as shops, warehouses, and other indoor locations; outdoors, such as open areas, covered areas, process units, and other outdoor locations; heights, such as columns, tanks, pipe racks, and other areas; underground, such as vaults, pits, and inside of process equipment and other confined spaces.
• May be exposed to other environmental requirements as well, such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and other naturally occurring elements.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds as well as bend, stoop, twist, reach, stretch, push, pull, drag, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, and use hands and feet.
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field.
