Job Profile

The company is looking for a Lead Welder who will assist the supervisor in managing their assigned area and employees, while also providing guidance and direction to other operators. Proficient in all the operations in the supervisor’s area.

Assist the supervisor in directing, planning, and organizing the workforce and schedules while promoting safety and production.

Assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor when needed.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational or technical education is a plus

Work Experience

  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Capable of using different welding processes such as GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, Arc Gauging, and torch.
  • Experience with ERP Systems (SAP)
  • Minimum 1 to 12 months of related experience or training

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Acts as a role model/influencer for other leads and employees.
  • Effectively tracks project cost and hours. Understands, communicates, and addresses the cost of poor quality. Implements actions to control scrap costs.
  • Ensure that personnel are complying with required safety precautions and procedures.
  • Exhibits values and behaviors consistent with Enerflex Core Values
  • Focus is on daily production requirements while ensuring stock and product are effectively staged for the next shift or day.
  • Has the ability to identify and deliver operator training.
  • Has the ability to identify any potential “bottlenecks” or roadblocks to complete scheduled work to the Supervisor or Area Manager.
  • Has the ability to schedule work for others in the area.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to identify potential resolutions.
  • Identifies internal operator talent.
  • Leads team members in regards to the organization’s HSSE policy and procedures.
  • May provide training and oversight of others for specific tasks.
  • Processes daily work as prioritized by the supervisor and demonstrates quality behaviors through example in the workstations.
  • Requires employee to occasionally type and use a computer and other office equipment, such as copier, printer, calendar, telephones, etc.
  • Requires operation of heavy equipment such as welding tools at a constant frequency and a forklift on an occasional basis.
  • Responsible and accountable for the performance of self and others assigned.
  • Responsible for assigned work or projects.
  • Responsible for the daily direction, coordination, and evaluation of the designated area.
  • Responsible for understanding and promoting the organization’s procedural requirements.
  • Routinely leads and participates in Safety Huddles, Safety Meetings, and Debriefs.
  • Understands the importance and value of standardized work and reporting metrics.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and correct issues
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Must have some experience reading and understanding blueprints
  • Requires passing the 6G test on each required welding process.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipes and vessels.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to loud noise, fumes, and bright welding arcs
  • Follows strict safety protocols to prevent injury
  • Requires protective gear like helmets, gloves, and fire-resistant clothing
  • Stands or kneels for long hours, sometimes in cramped spaces
  • Works in high-heat environments, often outdoors or in factories
