Job Profile

The company is hiring a Pipefitter Fabricator for maintenance work.

Lays out, fabricates, prepares, and checks pipe against job specifications for assembly at the jobsite.

Reports to the Foreman; assigned duties according to specific procedures/work is checked frequently.

Education Level

• High School or equivalent

Work Experience

• 5 years of experience in the specified skill (depending on the mechanic level)
• May be required to create Field Sketch Drawings

License/Certification

• Pipefitter Certification (required)
• Some sites may require Forklift certification
• Written pre-employment qualification test

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assembles and joins pipes and pipe fittings
• Cleans and prepares pipe by grinding, bending, and threading pipe – may operate a bending machine
• Interprets spool sheet diagrams to determine size, shapes and angles of required pipes, pipe fittings, flanges, etc.
• May operate the hydraulic lift to relocate the pipe
• Measures and cuts the pipe
• Perform additional assignments per the supervisor’s direction
• Plans the sequence of fabrication

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Basic knowledge of Pipe Fabrication hand tools
• Cutting, threading, and bending pipes
• Familiar with mathematical formulas for offsets
• Installing and assembling piping systems
• Interpreting piping schematics and blueprints
• Using hand and power tools safely
• Welding and pipe fabrication

Work Environment

• May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing/sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
