Job Profile
The company is looking for a Maintenance Technician who will minimize downtime, support safe operations, and mentor junior team members.
Education Level
- Associate’s Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field
- Certification in a skilled trade or completion of an apprenticeship program (up to and including journeyman license status).
Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a maintenance role in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
- Experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of CNC machines, industrial and facilities.
- Experience with a variety of tools and machinery, such as mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficient experience using forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming revision.
License/Certification
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
- Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities
Advanced Maintenance/Repairs-
- Conduct inspections, calibrations, and testing to ensure safety and compliance.
- Contribute to efficiency and safety improvement projects.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment failures independently to minimize downtime.
- Lead or assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and system commissioning.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and uphold all safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation, requisition parts, and communicate repair timelines.
- Mentor junior technicians and support training on basic maintenance tasks.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Serve as backup to the Maintenance Manager when needed.
- Troubleshoot and repair production and non-production equipment, including forklifts, cranes, HVAC, and facility infrastructure.
Equipment Monitoring/Documentation-
- Accurately document all maintenance activities in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Monitor machinery to identify potential failures or performance degradation.
- Perform regular calibrations to maintain product quality and equipment accuracy.
- Track equipment history and support predictive maintenance initiatives using data and analysis.
Safety/Compliance-
- Assist in developing and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Participate in safety meetings, hazard analysis, and emergency response planning.
- Perform all maintenance tasks under OSHA regulations, company policies, and applicable safety codes.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols.
Collaboration/Leadership-
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional departments regarding maintenance priorities and progress.
- Mentor and support Maintenance Technician 1 team members in technical troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, process improvement projects, and root cause analyses.
- Partner with production, engineering, and quality departments to meet operational goals.
Continuous Improvement-
- Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting improvements.
- Participate in technical training to expand knowledge and skills related to maintenance best practices.
- Recommend and implement changes to equipment, systems, or maintenance processes to improve performance, safety, and reliability.
- Stay current with industry trends, equipment advancements, and emerging technologies.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to interpret complex wiring diagrams schematics and/ or machine specifications.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Demonstrated ability to innovate solutions to manufacturing machinery problems that will keep the production equipment operating with minimum downtime.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where loud noise exposure is regular and frequent.
- Additionally, there is regular exposure on the production floor to dust, metal debris, and changes in ambient temperature, which requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move between work areas.
- Regularly required to talk and listen, as well as climb, balance, and reach above shoulder level.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Periodic travel to other plant locations. Occasional domestic travel to attend company-sponsored training programs.
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
