Work Experience
- Experience in Aerospace or Additive Manufacturing: Previous experience working in an aerospace environment or with advanced additive manufacturing techniques.
- Experience with Robotics: Hands-on experience in building or maintaining robotic systems, especially related to automation or manufacturing.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Responsible for building and refining the hardware that powers our autonomous systems.
- From advanced robotics for manufacturing and additive processes to specialized robots that support development and deployment, our R&D hardware engineers work in close collaboration with software, automation to develop cutting-edge technologies that push the boundaries of space exploration and industrial manufacturing.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Experience with 3D Printing: Familiarity with 3D printers and rapid prototyping processes, including material selection and post-processing.
- Proficient in Mechanical Assembly: Ability to assemble complex parts and systems, with experience in metalworking (cutting, grinding, tapping, and welding).
- Hands-on System Building: Competence in building systems with 80/20 extrusions or similar modular components.
- Technical Skills in Assembly and Troubleshooting: Ability to assemble mechanical and electrical components and troubleshoot problems in prototype systems or test equipment.
- Networking and Cable Management: Experience in running Ethernet cables and assisting with the electrical integration of robotic and automated systems.
- Safety Mindset: Strong understanding of safety standards in an industrial environment, including lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and equipment operation protocols.
- Team Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with other technicians, engineers, and project teams.
Credible Qualifications
- Welding Skills: Experience with advanced welding techniques, particularly for aerospace or heavy-duty manufacturing applications.
- Knowledge of Control Systems: Familiarity with robotic control systems and electrical integration, including PLCs or other controllers.
- Automated Systems Experience: Familiarity with automated manufacturing systems and their maintenance
Work Environment
- May involve standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Occasional overtime or shift work to meet production or maintenance schedules.
- Regular interaction with automated machinery and robotics systems.
- Requires PPE due to exposure to electrical components and moving parts.
- Works in manufacturing plants, labs, or testing facilities.
