Job Profile
The company is searching for a Field Technical Service Specialist who will play a key part in supporting the adoption and growth of ITW’s advanced MIG gun systems and consumables for manual welding and hard and flexible automation customers.
Support high-value opportunities, drive competitive conversions, and deliver measurable improvements in customer performance and satisfaction.
Support growth in consumable revenue streams, including contact tips, nozzles, and liners, by demonstrating the technical and economic advantages of ITW Welding solutions over competitors.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Welding, or a related technical field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
- Equivalent military/trade school training may be accepted in place of a Degree
Work Experience
- 3-5 years of related work experience (required)
- Previous experience with integrated robotic welding systems and industrial controls (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Answer general technical support questions as needed to assist customers and internal teams.
- Conduct on-site product trials, demonstrations, and comparative evaluations to support the displacement of competitor solutions.
- Deliver product, application, repair, and distributor training to end users, distributors, and ITW Welding employees as needed.
- Educate customers and distributor partners on the advantages of ITW consumables and equipment to increase adoption and consumable revenue streams.
- Provide after-sales technical field support to target customers as required.
- Provide system-level technical process support and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot and repair MIG Gun Division (MGD) products in the field.
- Work directly with key end users to evaluate and optimize their product selection, usage, and applications.
Collaborative Support-
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key end users, distributor partners, and internal teams to foster trust, encourage collaboration, and ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with divisional leadership to demonstrate customer value through trials and system installations. Work cross-functionally with product management, sales, engineering, R&D, process development, training, service, and operations teams to ensure successful outcomes at target customer accounts.
- Lead onboarding and continuous product knowledge training for new team members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of ITW Welding systems and consumables.
- Partner with the broader sales team to identify and pursue competitive conversion opportunities, demonstrating the superior performance, reliability, and cost benefits of ITW MIG gun systems and consumables compared to competitor products.
- Support distributor training initiatives to ensure distributor partners are well-equipped to sell, support, and service ITW Welding products effectively.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

- Must possess demonstrated technical aptitude, be mechanically inclined, and have a strong working knowledge of welding processes commonly used in both flexible and hard automation.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft applications and web-based solutions.
Work Environment
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%.
- Requires frequent domestic travel within the assigned region and may require periodic international travel, including but not limited to Canada, Mexico, Asia, and Europe.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, squat, stoop, and use hands to type, finger, handle, control, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
