Job Profile
The company is hiring a Maintenance Technician who will perform skilled work related to the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service, and repair of mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and structural systems.
Monitor machine performance, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and make necessary adjustments.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
Work Experience
- Minimum 1-3 years of related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience.
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, and structural systems
License/Certification
- Trade certifications for electrical, mechanical systems (preferred, but not required)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in the work area.
- Deals with complex factors and makes decisions based on conclusions and findings.
- Diagnoses and corrects trouble in electrical systems or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
- Follows the preventive maintenance program as established by the company and conducts regular equipment inspections, taking preventive action when necessary.
- Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems. Works with blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions, and other specifications.
- Notifies management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
- Performs minor and major repairs on buildings.
- Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery to ensure the production of finished quality products according to order specifications.
- Provides on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work.
- Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus.
- Uses different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, flame cutting) for layout and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures.
- Utilizes electricians’ hand tools and measuring/testing equipment.
- May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by the Team Leader.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must demonstrate proficiency in resolving unexpected events and circumstances
Work Environment
- Exposure – Moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Lifting Capacity – ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Mobility – Prolonged periods on feet, standing, bending, etc.
- Noise Tolerance – High noise levels.
