The company is searching for a Maintenance Mechanic to join its team.

Education Level

  • Associate’s Degree in industrial maintenance, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Technical training in industrial machine types

Work Experience

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant industry experience in industrial maintenance.
  • 6 to 9 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance.
  • 3 or more years of machine mechanical/electronics experience.
  • Experience performing all position arc and wire feed welding on steel and aluminum.
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, water, and natural gas plumbing.
  • Experience with mills/lathes.
  • Experience in three or more areas – CNC, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and metalworking.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to coordinate maintenance activities with other departments.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature-controlled environment and outdoors.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Complete diagnosis, testing, disassembly, inspection, precise measuring, repair, and re-assembly of plant equipment or components
  • Perform new installations of equipment, including high and low voltage systems, and major repairs and replacements
  • Perform pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting and repair of plant production equipment
  • Performs general maintenance tasks including buildings, grounds, (snow removal), etc.
  • Performs maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.
  • Performs strategic preventive maintenance and continuously improves maintenance systems and practices.
  • Proper installation of equipment, ensuring that necessary safety standards are adhered to.
  • Respond to on-duty emergency requests and after-hours call-ins.
  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance & repairs on all plant equipment and facilities, including hydraulic machines, presses, shears, cranes, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, etc.
  • Responsible for the repair of worn parts, straightening, and fabricating fixtures. Makes new installation of equipment and performs major repairs/replacements.
  • Seek opportunities for efficiencies and improvements within the maintenance department.
  • Support manufacturing demands, including working during non-peak hours (e.g., off-shifts, holidays, weekends, etc.) as required/assigned.
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
  • Use troubleshooting aids, such as volt, ohm, and amp meters, meggers, anemometers, tachometers, and any other tool used to diagnose equipment, to interpret readings

  • Responsible for own work.
  • Reports to the Production Supervisor.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to be Valmont trained and certified in the operation of a forklift.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook or similar email software.
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment.
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
  • Must be available for on-call rotation.
  • Must have a high awareness of safety at all times.
  • Physically capable and available to work overtime, including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
  • Requires working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, or electrical applications.
  • The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment.
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
  • Understanding of machining.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.
  • Working knowledge of single and three-phase electrical circuitry with an ability to read electrical schematics.
