Job Profile

The company is seeking a CNC Machinist III who will assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.

Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units.

Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.

Takes measurements of material and selects an appropriate machine for the process.

Provides training to lower-level machinists.

Sets up and operates both manual and CNC equipment for the efficient production of quality components.

Responsible for the production of high-tolerance precision parts.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)

Work Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of machining experience with a Vocational Degree (Machine/Tool or related field) OR minimum 15 years of machining experience in place of a degree
  • Experience in manual and CNC machining
  • Minimum 5 years of setup
  • Minimum 7 years of machine operation

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Abides by all Company safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Aware of and actively participates in the company’s Lean philosophy of continuous improvement.
  • Aware of and conforms to the company’s ISO goals and objectives, and supports the company’s ISO requirements.
  • Ensure that measuring devices used to check product quality are calibrated before use.
  • Follows the procedure for handling nonconforming parts
  • Interpret technical prints.
  • Maintains in-process product identification.
  • Monitors the quality of parts produced to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Must know CNC machine “G-Code” and troubleshooting skills to identify and communicate program improvements to programmers.
  • Must use personal protective equipment if required.
  • Programs, sets up, operates manual and CNC mills, lathes, and grinders, and adjusts machining equipment for production efficiency without supervision. Able to read and utilize blueprints.
  • Provide a part quotation from technical drawings that includes estimated program, setup, and cycle labor, as well as material size and machining used.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work with Engineers to make recommendations
  • Demonstrated expertise in reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function

  • Handles heavy machinery and tools
  • May work nights, weekends, or overtime
  • Stands for long periods during shifts
  • Wears safety gear like goggles and gloves
  • Works in a noisy industrial shop environment
