Job Profile
The company is hiring a CNC Machinist who will set up and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to perform machining operations, including milling, lathes, large horizontal and vertical lathes.
Education Level
- 1-year Machine Tool Operation certificate from college or technical school
Work Experience
- Prior experience with precision inspection equipment, including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges
- 3 to 6 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Waukesha Bearings policies and procedures.
- Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum, and bronze
- Create and maintain a team-focused work environment.
- Identify, select, and install proper tooling for operations being performed.
- Interpret work instructions.
- Locate and download programs from a DNC storage system.
- Read, process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
- Read, understand, edit, or write programs.
- Seek out and participate in Continuous Improvement opportunities.
- Set up all necessary measuring equipment and routinely check the calibration of the equipment while measuring.
- Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
- Understand the capabilities of tooling and machinery.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Work with mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to walk, sit, and use hands to touch, handle, or feel parts and machinery.
- Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must frequently twist, bend, and kneel.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
