Job Profile
The company is looking for a Fabrication Detailer/CAD Drafter who will plan, coordinate, and inspect to ensure the continuous production of systems is consistent with established codes and standards.
Education Level
- High School Diploma (credible)
Work Experience
- Possess work-related experience (a plus)
License/Certification
- Previous ASNT, CWI, or NACE Level I or II certification (a plus)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist Construction as needed
- Assist Planners with material take-offs, issue resolution, change management, and other functions
- Assume the role of technical resource to construction, client site engineering management, and operating modules when assigned.
- Complete site quality control instructions and action remedial responses
- Coordinate NDE vendor activities
- Coordinate with the Site Quality Manager for quality improvements
- Develop preliminary layouts. Possibility of coordinating engineering and design activities with construction engineers. Review the manufacturer’s drawings concerning the company’s design criteria.
- Ensure all technical documents related to site quality control are current in status
- Ensure proper documentation of field design activities, prepare basic design sketches for drafting, and incorporate them into the design criteria. Coordinate design with other personnel working on the same project to minimize design conflicts.
- Ensure that safety is adhered to at the site
- Implement and act under our company policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to: Code of Ethics, Safety and Loss Control, Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology.
- Investigate and adjust customer issues regarding quality
- Maintain communication among construction, client site engineering management, client operations, and maintenance personnel.
- Monitor all quality-related activities on the project
- Perform hands-on design and preparation of drawings using CAD software or manual drawings/sketches. MicroStation Software skills required.
- Provide inspection activity for in-place products
- Put test packages together for the client
- Responsible for the overall quality of the Field Engineering package.
- Support the Bilfinger Quality Manual and related programs
- Verify that contractor quality requirements are specified to vendors and confirm contractor documentation submittals
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to use math/complete calculations
- Decision-making skills are necessary
- Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/supervision
- Talking and reading writing comprehension are necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work or safety policy
- Work at various tempos, and concentrate amid distractions
Work Environment
- Ability to drive cars/trucks as needed
- Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
- Hearing and comprehension are necessary for giving and receiving directions
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., but may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to manipulate and traverse uneven terrain, ladders, and multi-floor buildings with no elevator
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
- Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, reaching overhead, squatting, sitting, or standing, and lifting
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects frequently
- Vision requirements include the ability to pass a Jaeger 1 visual acuity test and a color-blind test
- Will need to perform sedentary to heavy work
- Will operate inspection hand gauges of all types
- Will operate office equipment of all types
Other Requirements
- Computer literate with functional knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Able to obtain TWIC/TSA clearance
- Able to pass Basic Plus or equivalent safety training
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Must be willing to travel on short but reasonable notice
- Will to learn and to assist with Bilfinger’s ASME/NBIC Code Stamp Program
- Willing to accept short project assignments
- Willing to acquire additional certifications as required
- Willing to handle the assignment
