Job Profile
The company is searching for a Quality Inspector who will primarily be responsible for monitoring and measuring product on the manufacturing floor and escalating nonconforming product issues according to Challenge Manufacturing Quality Standards.
Performs periodic quality checks, necessary quality checks, records information in Plex (enterprise resource planning system – ERP), and performs general utility work to meet work schedule.
Education Level
- High School Diploma (credible)

- Possess work-related experience (a plus)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Completes appropriate paperwork and other documentation.
- Ensure nonconforming processes are adhered to
- Ensures and maintains the safety and cleanliness of the work area by performing housekeeping duties.
- Ensures parts are packed according to packaging instructions to meet customer requirements.
- The ability to focus on the benefits of change and see it as positive; approaches change or newness in a constructive/objective manner; views change as a learning opportunity.
- Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes. Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
- Inspect and gauge raw or welded parts according to the operator checklist to ensure parts are within customer specifications.
- Looks for good in others; works collaboratively with others; shares information and knowledge.
- Meets daily production requirements.
- Monitor quality alerts to ensure they are being followed and that they are valid.
- Moves within own or other work areas (flexes) to support plant flow. Works with a sense of urgency to meet the needs of customers.
- Perform daily Layered Process Audits (LPA) to ensure the Company’s quality processes are being followed.
- Performs all duties to support plants’ daily and weekly production requirements.
- Performs and cross-trains on various work centers as required.
- Support the company’s quality process when internal and external quality failures result in the product being contained. Follows the Company’s containment process to ensure defects are not shipped to Challenge Manufacturing customers (internal/external).
- Takes positive action to objectively resolve conflict by listening, staying focused on the issue to find a resolution, and monitoring progress. Maintains positive relationships by constructively resolving conflicts.
- Uses feedback from others to continuously improve performance and work relationships.
- Verify that first-piece inspection and approval have been completed according to Challenge Manufacturing’s first-piece approval process to ensure a quality part is being produced.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- PC and keyboard/mouse skills required
- Ability to use a variety of gauges (functional, go/no go) required
- Ability to use quality inspection tools, read and interpret job element sheets
- Ability to work as a contributing member within a team environment
- Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions
Work Environment
- Ability to frequently lift/move material weighing up to 40 pounds
- Work when scheduled and ensures coverage when absent; takes timely breaks/lunches; uses time wisely.
