Job Profile

The company is looking for a Die Repair I who will analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Work Experience

  • Possess work-related experience (a plus)

License/Certification

  • Must be able to obtain a hi-lo license.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs on dies in the press.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machines and hand tools.
  • Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.
  • Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools using scrapers, emery cloths, or power grinders.
  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes the product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

  • Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions.

  • Exposure to metal dust and fumes
  • High noise levels from machinery
  • Hot and cramped workspaces
  • Requires heavy lifting and physical effort
  • Risk of cuts, burns, and other injuries
