Job Profile
The company is hiring an Equipment Manager who will be responsible for the oversight of all on-and off-road mobile equipment owned, leased, and rented by the company in the region.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Work Experience
- Experience in equipment management of large mobile mining equipment, as well as on-road commercial vehicles
- Experience with both on-and off-road Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) systems
Duties/Responsibilities
- Acts as a technical advisor on equipment issues with management and fellow workers; works with the corporate equipment department to ensure useful and accurate reporting
- Aids multiple operations; gives directions to managers with mobile equipment, foremen, and mechanics
- Coordinates updating DMV registration and proper insurance coverage
- Ensures that all company safety and environmental policies are met
- Helps forecast future equipment needs and expenditures
- Holds dealerships and rental yards accountable for uptime of equipment; prepares capital budget requests and work/purchase orders for major maintenance and new equipment purchases
- Monitors and tracks equipment usage; ensures effective preventive maintenance programs, including tires and wear parts
- Plans, coordinates, and directs the repairs and maintenance of equipment to eliminate failures and minimize downtime; this includes both in-house and outsourced maintenance
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Existing relationships with CAT, Komatsu, and John Deere (preferred)
- Knowledge about heavy equipment: hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, cutting, machining, and electrical
- Knowledge of DOT, PERP, and CARB regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer programs
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
- Coordinates with teams and vendors
- May be exposed to noise and dust
- Often on-call for equipment issues
- Uses computers and diagnostic tools
- Works both indoors and outdoors
