The company is looking for a MIG Welder to join its team for various manufacturing needs.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should be a High School Graduate or equivalent (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all departmental procedures on reporting time, material, re-work, etc.
  • Adheres to all safety policies
  • Assists with training of others
  • Complete all required training applicable to the assigned position
  • Effectively uses computerized Information Center to retrieve product/process information
  • Effectively uses Smart Team Application to verify prints and revision levels
  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Maintains safety and housekeeping standards in accordance with 5 S principles
  • MIG welds flat-stock or tubing as instructed by customer orders, Kanban, and blueprints, using steel or silicon bronze wire to meet quality specifications
  • Performs predictive/preventative maintenance as necessary
  • Performs required ISO first/last piece part inspections visually or using calibers, height gauges, angle finders, or check fixtures
  • Provides written suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Retrieves and sets up material/fixture
  • Strict compliance with FDA and ISO control standards and record keeping
  • Visually inspects material during the machining process to prevent defects and scrap

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to be cross-trained
  • Ability to communicate basic information regarding processes and quality-related questions
  • Ability to coordinate the use of torch and silicon or steel stick at the same time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate hand tools (i.e. hand grinders)
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Bending, twisting, or squatting may be required
  • Demonstrated ability to MIG weld according to Invacare standards
  • Demonstrated ability to read gauges
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow work instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated flexibility in attitude and willingness to work in all areas as needed
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Good eye and hand coordination
  • Knowledge of quality standards to apply visual inspection
  • Must demonstrate near vision 20/25 or better, Snellen or equivalent in at least one eye, either corrected or uncorrected
  • Must have the physical ability and manual dexterity necessary to perform the duties pertaining to the job
  • Must have a thorough understanding of quality systems and their relationship to job performance including ISO Overview, corrective/preventative actions, and work instructions
