Job Profile

The company is searching for a Fabricator who will interpret shop sketches, identify material listed on sketches, and fabricate pipe spools from detailed sketches.

The position will work under the direction of a foreman.

Educational Qualification

• No education level is mentioned, yet applicants may be required a High School Diploma

Work Experience

• Possess 1 to 4 years of experience in specified skills (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Read and sign off on JSA
• Gather the material listed on a sketch to the fabrication table
• Record heat numbers from fittings to the sketch if required
• Lay out for inside and outside diameter nozzle attachments
• Prep pipe and fittings with pneumatic grinders for fit-up
• Use a plasma or oxy/fuel-cutting torch
• Clean out the inside diameter with compressed air after fit up
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times

Qualification Standards

• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace
• Hazard Communication orientation/test
• Job site “Personal Protective Equipment” requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc.)
• Job site orientation
• OSHA-approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
• Pre-employment qualification test if applicable
• Turner Industries Group Indoctrination

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Math skills required to add and subtract dimensions, figure inside/outside the arc of ells, figure outside diameter rolls for spool orientation such as attachments, flange two holes

Physical Requirements

• Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level
• Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffold structures, etc.
• Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials
• Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment
• Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, or overhead
• Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
• Standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction

Mental Involvement (may be required)

• Following set procedures and standards
• Applying basic mathematical skills
• Planning work and selecting the proper tools
• Comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects
• Picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked
• Following oral or written directions, plans, and blueprints
• Reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards

Work Environment

• Location: pipe fabrication facility
• Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
• Job Site: may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
